Breast Cancer Screening Reduces Deaths

The number of women dying from breast cancer decreases. But researchers do not assume that mammography screening are responsible. That in many countries fall in the number of women who die from breast cancer, according to one study is not necessarily a consequence of mammography screening. More likely it is that new treatments and a better health system would have helped the researchers write in the online edition of the journal "British Medical Journal".

Accordingly, they formed three pairs of countries - Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium, Sweden and Norway. The states have a comparable health system, the risk of developing breast cancer, were also judged to be similar. However, in each country of a second pair of countries, mammography screening between ten and 15 years later, as introduced in the first.

The evaluation between 1989 and 2006 by the World Health Organization (WHO) collected data on breast cancer and mortality in different countries showed no significant abnormalities.
