Donate Organs via Facebook Soon in US

Mark Zuckerberg Once Again With New Update on Facebook

On Tuesday (02-MAY-2012), Facebook unveiled an initiative to use its vast social network to connect organ donors with people who need life-saving transplants. Mark Zuckerberg sign up himself first for the organ donor.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that according to Health Department U.S., an average of 79 people receive organ transplants daily and 18 people die each day waiting for a transplant because of the shortage of organs donor. For few reasons there are not enough donors in United States:
  • Many are not aware of the great need for organs,
  • while others are wary of medical organizations and think that they are not put in place measures to save their lives if doctors know they are donors.
Zuckerberg said, there is need to promote awareness of organ donation and encouraged social network members to say whether they are donors. He starts a simple tool soon in Facebook from where, people can really help raise awareness about organ donation and want to involve their friends and believe it may be important to help resolve the crisis.

At last, Zuckerberg gives credit to his girlfriend for this and said, that he is partly inspired by conversations with his girlfriend, who is forming in pediatrics and noting what the social network members have made in times of crisis.
